Your Questions About Favorite Flavors of Boba Tea

Lisa asks…

What is your favorite flavor of bubble tea/boba?

I’m super into bubble tea lately… I was introduced to it a few months ago and have been trying to find it ever since.

So, I’m on vacation at the moment and we’re about to go get some. I wanted to try a new flavor, but I wasn’t entirely sure what to try. So far, I’ve only tried fruity flavors (I’ve only had it twice…once raspberry, and the other time mango). I’m not sure if I should stick with fruity, or explore other tastes (I’m really curious about avocado, taro, red bean, thai tea, and lycee).

What flavor do you usually get or recommend? Are nonfruity bubble teas just as good, or are they bland and gross?

Bubble Tea Fun answers:

Nonfruity boba tea flavors are just as good. They’ll be sweet, so it’s not like you’ll get something totally weird. All boba tea pretty much tastes the same on some level.

The only one of those flavors I’ve never tried is avocado, but that’s just because I know I don’t like normal avocado. It’s very popular, though, to use avocado as a dessert ingredient in Asian countries. (My mom made avocado milkshakes all the time when I was a kid, sometimes froze the shakes into popsicles.) So if you like avocado, you can try that.

There are many different kinds of avocado, believe it or not, and they have somewhat different flavors. The very large (weigh about 1 pound each), smooth-skinned avocados have hardly any taste. To me they taste like water almost. So whether or not you like avocado may depend on what kind you are served.

Taro and Red Bean will be mild and sweet. There won’t be much difference between their tastes, taro is a root vegetable and red bean is, well, a bean so they’re not inherently sweet on their own… Well, just try it, it’s good.

Thai tea is probably my favorite. I love all manners of milk tea (tea + milk), boba or not. Thai tea will have a spiced (not spicy) flavor to it. If you’ve had chai tea (which you can try at Starbucks), it’s similar to that, maybe a little milder.

Lycee is very sweet with a sharp flavor. That will probably be the most shocking of the flavors you listed. People either love it or hate it so if you’re feeling adventurous… Good luck!

David asks…

Favorite Boba drink flavor?

I’ve been deciding on what flavors to try at this Boba tea shop and I’ve found about 7 that interest me. I’d like your input, please.
The ones I’m interested in are: Mocha, Avocado, Coconut (or Pina Colada), Taro, Passion Orange Guava, and Strawberry Coconut. (As you can see, the coconut flavors interest me.)

If you’ve tasted any of these (or all) could you please put your input in as to which you found more pleasant and which ones you think weren’t that good? Also, I wouldn’t mind hearing some of your favorite Boba flavors.

Thanks.

I’ve already asked this a couple of times, but I’m hoping for some more opinions.

Bubble Tea Fun answers:

Mango! Mango mango mango mango, mango mango-m-m-mango! Mango is the answer to everything.

A nonfruity boba can be delicious. My first was just a straight green tea boba, and that’s my second favorite (after mango).

Bubble Tea Fun answers:

I love Bubble Tea!!! I never tried the weird flavors. I usually get the mango but often get Snow Bubble (a slush), strawberry or raspberry. I never tried the jellies, but I’ve had color bubbles and the black bubbles, they taste similar, but you have to pay about 35 cents extra for the colorful ones. Have fun!
